MGCCC’s Estuarine Education Center hosts family fun day

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Jackson County Campus will host a free family activity day on Saturday, September 29, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m., in honor of National Estuaries Day.

The event, which merges outdoor recreation with estuary awareness, will be held at the Estuarine Education Center located on the north end of the campus in Gautier.

Activities will include boat tours of Mary Walker Bayou, kayaking, hikes on the nature trails on campus and ropes course fun.

Events scheduled include:

  • Ropes Course: 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
  • Indoor Rock Wall: 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Boat Tours: 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon
  • Trail/Greenhouse Tours: 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon
  • Kayaking: 11 a.m., 11:30 a.m., noon and 12:30 p.m.

Participants must sign a waiver. Participants under the age of 18 must have parents sign a waiver on the minor’s behalf and a parent must be present during the activities.
