While the current MGCCC baseball team continues to prepare for the 2013 season, head coach Gary Rath and his staff have received commitments from seven players for the 2014 campaign.
“We are extremely proud of these early commitments to the MGCCC baseball program,” Rath says. “This class boasts some of the best hitters in the state, and all of them have championship experience within their respective programs.”
The players include the following:
RICHIE CLARK (UTILITY) – LONG BEACH HIGH SCHOOL: Right-handed hitter who helped lead LBHS to the 2010 state championship as a sophomore. Hit .398 with four homeruns as a junior.
JAMES LAND (1B)- HARRISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL: Cousin of former MGCCC and MLB player Matt Lawton, Land is considered one of the best left-handed hitting prospects in the state. Hit .367 with six doubles last season as he led HCHS into the final round of the MHSAA playoffs.
TYLER RACHEL (RHP/INF) – BRANDON HIGH SCHOOL: True two-way position player for Brandon High School. He was 5-2 with a 2.64 ERA while hitting .337 as a junior.
