The Jefferson Davis Players present William Shakespeare’s “Much Ado About Nothing” on April 18- 20, with a curtain at 7:30 p.m., and April 21, with a curtain at 2 p.m. in the campus Fine Arts Auditorium.
The play is a comedy about two pairs of lovers, Benedick and Beatrice and Claudio and Hero, who find, lose and find love again as gossip, rumor and misinformation abound. The setting of the play is at a country home in Messina and takes place as the men return home from war.
The cast includes James Rojas as Don John; Ryan Pierini as Don Pedro; Jacob Cumberland as Claudio; Sean Brunson as Benedick, Kenny Yocom as Leonato; Kevin Rothe as Antonio; Chris Smith as Balthasar; Matt Howard as Conrad; Sean C. Harding as Borachio; Jacob Paige as Friar Francis; Jessica Byrd as Dogberry; Jaime Hanna as Verges; Ariel McLendon as the first watchman; Fallon Dewaele as the second watchman and party guest; Charles Clark as a sexton; Amanda Ivie as Hero; Stephanie Grammar as Beatrice; Mekaylah Donaldson as Margaret; Shannon Wooten as Ursula; and Julia Perrett as a messenger and watchman.
Ryan Pierini is the director and scenic and lighting designer. The production staff and crew includes Ariel McLendon, stage manager; Jacob Paige, assistant stage manager; Kenny Yocom, technical director; Carol M. Brown, house manager; Geoffrey Finnemore, light board operator; Kaitlynn Dumal, sound technician; Ariel McLendon and Jacob Paige, backstage crew; Brittany Barriantos, Chris Smith, Mekaylah Donaldson, Ariel McLendon, Kenny Yocom, Ryan Pierini and the Drama Production class, set construction.
