MGCCC baseball splits at Jones

MGCCC pitcher Chris Wease retired 15 Jones batters in a row as the Bulldogs beat the Bobcats 5-2 to get a game two victory and a doubleheader split at Ellisville on April 17.

MGCCC (21-17, 8-10) got three hits, including a solo homerun, from Kyle Clement in a12 hit offensive attack. Clement had three RBI while Blake Lawson, Chris Burdette, and Michael Gilbert each had two hits. Wease (2-0) went five innings for the win, giving up no hits and striking out five while Jordan Mata picked up his fifth save of the season.

In game one, the No. 17 Bobcats doubled up MGCCC 6-3. Stuart Holmes (4-5) suffered the loss on the mound while Ryne Long and Chris Burdette each had two hits at the plate.

MGCCC travels to Southwest Saturday, April 20, for a doubleheader with games at 2 & 4 p.m.
