No. 8 MGCCC softball sweeps Pearl River

MGCCC made it a perfect 4-0 record against archrival Pearl River with a doubleheader sweep of the Lady Wildcats Wednesday at Perkinston.

MGCCC hammered Pearl River 10-2 in game one behind a leadoff homer by Lea Kittrell and a six run third inning. Brooke Gaston had two hits while Morgan Fairley doubled and drove in three and Dani Craft doubled and had two RBI. Pitcher Reina Baluja notched another win and struck out four in the victory.

In game two, MGCCC got three hits from Baluja including a homerun and a double, three hits from Craft, and two hits from Emily Davis in a 7-3 win. Baluja also picked up a victory in the circle as she relieved starter Olivia Ladnier.

The Lady Bulldogs, (28-7, 17-3) ranked No. 8 in the latest NJCAA D-II poll, takes on No. 6 Jones on the road Saturday, April 20, with games at 2 & 4 p.m.
