MGCCC’S Reina Baluja struck out 156 batters during 2013.
A key member of the 2013 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College softball team has been recognized at the National level. Lady Bulldog sophomore Reina Baluja is a 2013 NJCAA Second Team All-American after helping lead Gulf Coast to its second MACJC South Division title in the last three years.
Baluja, a Tampa, FL native, went 14-5 with a 2.51 ERA in the circle and while batting .353 with 7 homeruns and 35 RBI. She was also named MACJC Pitcher of the Week during the regular season and recorded 156 strikeouts, which is among the NJCAA’s top 25 in that category.
