Two key players from the 2012-13 Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College men’s basketball squad are moving on to the next level.

Sophomore JaMichael Hawkins signed with Southeastern Louisiana while fellow sophomore Angel Matias will play at Georgia Southern next year.

Hawkins, a 6-foot-3 guard from Jackson, averaged 17.7 points per game in 2012-13 and was second in the MACJC in both scoring and three point field goals.

Matias, a 6-foot-4 forward from San Juan, Puerto Rico, helped Gulf Coast win its second straight MACJC title in 2011-12. As a sophomore, Matias averaged 17.5 points per game an earned an MACJC Player of the Week honor before an injury sidelined him for the second half of the season.
