Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College celebrated Veterans Day with a variety of activities on its campuses and centers.
- On Monday, Nov. 11, the George County Center held a special ceremony honoring veterans and presented student and employees who are veterans with certificates of appreciation. The celebration included a balloon release, cake and other refreshments.
- The Jackson County Campus held a One-Mile Walk/Run honoring veterans on Thursday, Nov. 7. Various veterans’ organizations set up booths, and St. Martin High School’s ROTC presented the colors and did a special presentation honoring POWs and MIAs. David Blackledge, Estuarine Education Center director, and Robert Sanders, assistant dean of Instruction for the Jackson County Campus, both spoke.
- The Jefferson Davis Campus held a one-mile walk/run on Monday, Nov. 11. Participants were asked to wear patriotic clothing, and donations for local veterans’ organizations were collected.
- The Perkinston Campus held a Fallen Soldier 5K run on Monday, Nov. 11. The run began at the Bell Tower on campus. Special T-shirts were included for the event.
