Registration continues for Flex Start classes through mid-April

Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College began the spring 2015 semester on Thursday, January 8, with a 5.7 percent increase in enrollment as students continue to register for online, late-start and second-term/short-term classes.

Flex Start classes are geared toward students who have obligations that may hinder them from taking traditionally formatted classes.  There are currently more than 900 Flex Start classes scheduled to begin from now until mid-April.

“At MGCCC, we recognize the challenges our students face with the many obligations they have to family, jobs and in the community, so we want to offer them the most convenient way to take the classes they need to succeed,” said Dr. Mary S. Graham, MGCCC president. “Registration is ongoing for these classes and does not end until the day before a class is scheduled to start.  Plus, these classes represent a wide variety of course offerings and formats – day, evening, weekend, online and hybrid.”

Graham also pointed to the results of the annual Student Satisfaction Survey, which shows that Gulf Coast ranks above the national norms on student satisfaction, with 87 percent of on-campus and online students expressing satisfaction with their experience at the college, 96 percent saying that the tuition paid at MGCCC is a worthwhile investment and 92 percent saying they are satisfied with the quality of instruction at the college.

Graham added, “We keep the focus on student success, and the two surveys that we use –the Noel-Levitz Student Satisfaction Inventory and the Noel-Levitz Priorities Survey for Online Learners– and the results of those surveys demonstrate the culture of excellence at MGCCC. We are proud of what the college offers and are thrilled to continue providing outstanding educational opportunities to the residents of our four-county district.”

Returning students can register for Flex Start classes via Web Services.  New students need to contact the Admissions Office or speak to an admissions specialist.  For more information, visit the Future Students link at mgccc.edu.  For information on available classes, visit the Class Schedule link at the top of the website.
