Jim McIngvale named to MGCCC Board of Trustees

Jim McIngvale, Jackson County (8177)fxJames W. “Jim” McIngvale of Pascagoula has been named to the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Board of Trustees.  McIngvale takes the place of retired Board member Jim Epting and will represent Jackson County.

Currently the director of Government and Community Affairs at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, McIngvale has worked with the shipbuilder for 38 years.  He began his career in the Public Relations Department of Litton Ingalls Shipbuilding in 1977.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from The University of Mississippi in 1976, majoring in political science and journalism.

He has served on various boards and committees, including, on the state level, GoCoast 2020 Commission (Restore Act), 2013 to present; Commission on Recovery, Rebuilding and Renewal, 2005-2008; Mississippi Military Communities Council, 1993 to present, (chairman 1997-2004); and Mississppi Broadband Connect Coalition, 2010 to present.  He has served on the Strategic Planning Committee for the city of Pascagoula since 2011 and the Jackson County Board Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 1992-1999 and 2001-2014 (chairman of the board 1997-98).  He was its Volunteer of the Year in 1995; served as chairman of the Regional Strategies Issue Manager Group, 2010-2011; chairman of the Infrastructure Task Force, 1994-1995; and chairman of the Public Relations and Media Relations Committee.  His current board commitments include the Board of Advisors for the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce; the Executive Committee for the Mississippi Manufacturers Association; the Board of Governors for the Mississippi Economic Council; Board of Directors for the Mississippi World Trade Association; and the Board of Directors for The Public Education Forum of Mississippi.

McIngvale resides in Pascagoula with his wife, Nancy, a retired elementary school teacher and native of Memphis, Tennessee. Their daughter, Brooke, is a graduate of Pascagoula High School and Auburn University, holding an undergraduate degree in French, international trade and political science, and The University of South Alabama, holding a graduate degree in public administration/policy. She is currently employed with MediaDC in Washington, D.C.
