For the second time this season a Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College defender has earned state wide honors. Gulf Coast linebacker Trey Wafford is the MACJC Defensive Player of the Week after makingĀ 10 solo tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 3 tackles for losses, a sack and a forced fumble against Pearl River in a 19-17 victory.
Wafford, a 5’11, 200 pound Fayetteville, GA native, leads the Bulldogs with 56 tackles and has 3-and-a-half sacks. He’s also made 11 tackles for losses and has one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, and interception, and has scored two defensive touchdowns.
Wafford joins fellow linebacker Cavellis Luckett as MACJC Defensive Player of the Week honorees. The #10 Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) take on Southwest at home this Thursday.
