Three MGCCC instructors have been chosen 2014 Humanities Teachers of the Year. Each honoree will receive a cash prize from the Mississippi Humanities Council and will be honored at a banquet in their honor on Feb. 13, 2015, in Jackson. During the months of October and November, each instructor made presentations as part of their award recognition. MGCCC honorees are:
- Dr. Jordan Sanderson, Jackson County Campus. Sanderson’s presentation was “Make It New: Connecting Students to Literature in the Age of Twitter.”
- Tommy Snell, Perkinston Campus. Snell’s presentation was “Shakespeare and Popcorn: A Renaissance of Symbols and Character in the Concessions Stand.”
- Candice Poulos, Jefferson Davis Campus. Poulos’ presentation was “Mind Shift: Reframing for Improved Mental Health.”
MHC selects honorees annually from each of Mississippi’s colleges anduniversities in the fields of English, history, music, art and philosophy.
